Q: Where do I go when I come on campus?
A: Go directly to the Administration office and check in. Be sure to bring photo identification. For safety reasons, we need to know who is on campus.
Q: Who is my child’s counselor?
A: Counselors are assigned according to grade level:

Q: When can my child see his/her counselor?
A: Student's can see counselors before or after school, during lunch or by special appointment.

Q: How can parents contact teachers?
A: Call the Main office at 754-322-0800 and wait for the cue to leave a message on teacher’s voice mail.
Q: What can I do to help my child academically?
A: 1. Review the syllabus and class guidelines with your child for his/her classes.
2. Ask your child where he/she is writing down homework assignments and periodically check that assignments are completed.
3. Check Pinnacle for your child's attendance and class grades.
4. Look closely at the 9 week progress report, and contact teachers if you have concerns about grades.

Q: How can my child stay responsible and organized?
A: Students are responsible for writing down and completing all homework assigned during class.
Students can keep track of homework assigned during class.
Students can keep track of homework with an agenda/calendar/organizer.
Students can set up appointments to discuss thier academic progress with their teachers.
Q: How can parents get involved?
A: You can join organizations such as the Parent Teacher Association (PTSA) and the School Advisory Council (SAC);

Q: What is there to do besides academics?
A: Clubs–over 30 different clubs. Students can create a club with administration approval. Dances held during the year include Homecoming and Prom.
The performing and visual arts magnet program host a number of programs such as Jazz Band, Orchestra, Music Production, Choirs, Dance, Theatre and Art.
The Emerging Computer Technology Program provides students unique opportunities to participate in highly specialized and technical courses in digital media, computer programming, robotics and hardware/network support.
Athletics include three seasons of sports and year-round Cheer including football, basketball, soccer, wrestling, swimming, track & field, baseball, and softball.
Q: When do students need to start keeping track of community service hours and how do they do that?
A: 40 Hours Community Service Hours are required in order to fulfill the Service
Learning Graduation requirement. 75 Hours are required to qualify for the
Florida Bright Futures Academic Award. In addition, you can achieve
DHS' Operation Platinum (250 Hours) and be recognized at
graduation with a Silver Cord.
Hours should be submitted at least nine weeks prior to Graduation.
Prior to doing outside community service projects, a Student Volunteer
Service Application and Approval Form MUST be completed
and submitted to the Volunteer Program Coordinator at least 10 school
days prior to doing that volunteer project. Get
your forms approved in a timely manner...prior to Spring, Summer and Winter
breaks! Parts A, B, and C must be completed on the form. If
your service project location/site is approved, you will receive a log sheet
to be signed by the person in charge at your volunteer site.

on the Student Volunteer Guide. There are approximately 200 non profit
agencies listed that can assist you in earning volunteer hours!
